Markdown Converter Privacy Policy

The short version: 13 Bricks Markdown Converter collects no data. Your documents are read and converted on your Mac and are never sent to us. The app has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no tracking.
Who we are
13 Bricks Markdown Converter ("the app") is made by 13 Bricks Technologies ("we", "us"). This policy explains how the app handles information.
Information we collect
None. The app has no accounts and no sign-up. It contains no advertising, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no third-party software development kits that collect data. We do not collect, receive, store, sell, or share any personal information or usage data.
Your documents
The app opens the files you choose. It runs in Apple's App Sandbox, so it can only reach files you open, drop onto it, or explicitly grant it access to. Documents are parsed, rendered, and exported entirely on your Mac. We never receive their contents.
Information stored only on your Mac
To work the way you expect between launches, the app keeps some information in its own preferences on your Mac. It never leaves your Mac and we cannot see it:
- Recent and pinned files. References to documents you have opened, so they can be reopened from the menu.
- Session state. Which documents were open and which was selected, so a session can be restored.
- Bookmarks and per-document view state, such as saved section bookmarks.
- Settings. Your preferences, such as theme, font, reading width, line spacing, custom CSS, linter and export options.
Clearing recents removes those references. Deleting the app and its preferences removes all of it.
Internet access
The app does not contact us or any service of ours, and converting a document works offline.
There is one exception, and it is under your control. A Markdown or HTML document can reference images, stylesheets, fonts, video, or audio hosted on a remote server. If those are allowed to load, your Mac requests them from whoever hosts them, and that host can see your IP address and that the resource was requested - exactly as a web browser would.
Turning on Block external images prevents this. It applies to the viewer and to exports: exported PDF, HTML and EPUB files carry no remote URLs, and a PDF export makes no network request while it renders. It covers video, audio, and resources referenced from styles as well as images.
Hardware and personal data on your Mac
The app requests no access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendars, Bluetooth, or USB devices. It can print, and it can read and write the files you select.
Apple
The app is distributed through the Mac App Store. Downloads, updates, and any ratings or reviews you submit through Apple's prompts are handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. We only receive the aggregate, anonymous statistics that Apple provides to all developers.
Children
The app does not collect information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above. Because the app collects no data, a change cannot affect information we hold about you: we hold none.
